An incident of theft was reported sometime between 5 p.m. July 19 and 5 p.m. July 20 on Clarion Road in Jones Township, Elk County. A person(s) entered a construction site for L.C. Whitford Co. Inc. and removed a large, metal swivel hook and fled the scene undetected.
An incident of retail theft was reported at 6 p.m. Friday at the Family Dollar Store in Ridgway Township, Elk County. A known adult St. Marys male allegedly removed an LED flashlight valued at $2.28 and left without paying for it. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
A known 14-year-old Ridgway juvenile was arrested for harassment following an investigation that occurred between 8:50 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. Thursday at the Ridgway Commons in Ridgway Township, Elk County. The juvenile subjected a 43-year-old Ridgway woman to unwanted physical contact. Charges were filed through the district court.
A 41-year-old Ridgway woman was arrested for driving under the influence and related summary violations after she was stopped for a traffic violation and found under the influence of alcohol at 12:27 a.m. Sunday. Charges are to be filed through the district court.
A checkpoint strike force initiative was conducted from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday along state Route 948 in Fox Township, Elk County. State police personnel briefly detained 43 vehicles so that motorists could be checked for signs of intoxication. Two drivers were subjected to additional sobriety testing, and none were deemed over the legal limit for alcohol consumption. These checkpoints will continue in Elk County and other counties throughout the state in areas where there are high incidences of alcohol-related vehicle accidents and related incidences.
