CURWENSVILLE – A former Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging employee is facing several charges after being accused of stealing from a client.
According to the state police in Clearfield, Jodie Yarger of Brisbin faces charges of theft, theft by deception, forgery and identity theft.
Police were contacted after the CCAAA learned that Yarger had allegedly taken several thousand dollars from a Curwensville woman’s checking account, cashed a life insurance check and used the elderly woman’s identification to obtain a credit card and cell phone. The credit card was allowed to go to collections. According to police, the CCAAA began their investigation when they were contacted by a collection agency trying to collect on the woman’s estate. It was discovered through phone records that Yarger allegedly told the agency that the elderly woman was deceased.
During the time of the reported incident, the elderly woman was under the guardianship of the CCAAA.
The elderly woman’s total loss is about $18,000.
