Camp Kanesatake, located in Spruce Creek, Huntingdon County, PA was the location of the 2011 Regional 4-H Camp. This year’s 4-H camp theme was “Take the Lead” and campers from the counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Fulton, and Huntingdon took part in the 4-day program. Our Traditional 4-H Camp welcomed close to 200 campers & counselors from June 21 through June 24. Over the course of 4 days, campers between the ages of 9 and 14 years of age selected a variety of both theme, recreational, and three day/build-on workshops to take part in over the week.
Daily recreational workshops included Air Rifle, Archery, Bouldering Wall, Crafts, Fishing, Ropes Course, Line Dancing, and Sports & Recreation. Daily theme workshops included Sow Your Gardens, Public Speaking 101, Build a Team with Self-Esteem, Win-Win/Leading Not Bossing, Environmental Stewardship, & Healthy Snacking. This year, we also offered 3-day build-on workshops during each afternoon session. A camper selected a workshop and was placed in the same workshop each day to expand their knowledge on certain subject areas. These workshops included GPS, Improvisational Theatre, Photography, Trees, Crafts, Home Alone Survival Skills, Spa Day Rest & Relax, and a Counselor-at-Training workshop was also conducted daily for our campers 14 years of age & older that wished to serve in the role of a camp counselor for 2011. Additionally, the campers took part in swimming, Minute to Win It challenges, a graffiti dance, a performance by Dennie Huber – Master Balloon Artist, and other fun activities within their tribes. Camp concluded with a parent program on Thursday evening.
Rrepresenting Clearfield County at the 2011 Traditional 4-H Camp were Brooke Ell of DuBois, Gust Fisch of Morrisdale, Shelby Flanagan of Clearfield, Cassandra Folmar of Luthersburg, Nick Kovalick of Woodland, Ryan Lazauskas of Woodland, Jaret McCracken of Clearfield, Kestrel Merritt of Morrisdale, Michael Minicucci of Clearfield, Amanda Pennington of Westover, Lance Stone of Winburne, Tyson Stone of Winburne, Amy Tomasko of Allport, Jessica Tomasko of Allport, Lauren Turner of Philipsburg, Andrea Walters of Rockton, and Kimberly Ward of Morrisdale.
All 4-H campers received a t-shirt, certificate from their counselors, and a photo DVD as mementos of their experience.

A 2012 Regional 4-H Camp is currently being planned for next June. The tentative date is June 17 through June 21, 2012.
