CLEARFIELD –Work to repair the Nittany Creek Bridge will begin on Tuesday, July 26 along Route 1005 (Forest Avenue) in Centre County.
The bridge spans Nittany Creek in Walker Township, a few miles south of the village of Zion. Work is expected to last for six weeks, into early September. All work is weather dependent.
A detour using Routes 550 and 26 will be in place as crews from PennDOT Centre County Maintenance work to replace the deck and beams of the existing bridge. Signage will be in place to alert drivers to the closure.
The current bridge was built in 1939 and carries average daily traffic of 738 vehicles. The bridge is currently posted for 14 tons for single vehicles and 26 tons for combination vehicles. This repair work will allow PennDOT to remove the posting.
