The American Red Cross recently consolidated offices in Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, and Jefferson Counties. This consolidation closed offices in St. Marys, Clearfield, and Brookville and will save the Red Cross over $100,000 a year in rent, utilities, and office equipment. These savings can now be used to support volunteers and provide services in a more efficient manner. This consolidation created a new Red Cross Chapter, The ARC of the PA Heartland Chapter covers all of Cameron and Jefferson Counties and most of Clearfield and Elk Counties.
We are undergoing these difficult steps now to ensure that the American Red Cross can be there when we are needed. We acknowledge that this move will cause some confusion and that it will take a little time to restore old relationships and build new ones.Â
The American Red Cross will continue to be involved in all communities throughout our new service area. The American Red Cross is a volunteer organization, neighbors helping neighbors. Wherever there are Red Cross volunteers, there is the Red Cross.Â
Red Cross Volunteers are needed to create teams in your community. These volunteer teams will provide Red Cross disaster services in their communities. Teams will be trained for disaster operations and team captains will work with staff to ensure materials and training are available to volunteers. Volunteer teams will also be ambassadors for the American Red Cross in their communities. Working with Chapter staff volunteers will represent the American Red Cross in local events and activities and may take part in community fundraising for the American Red Cross. To find out more about become a Red Cross volunteer in your community, contact the PA Heartland Chapter today.Â

Red Cross is a United Way and United Fund Participating Agency and RSVP Station.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
