Moshannon Valley Racer (Runner’s Aiding Community Emergency Responders) is planning their first major fundraising event – Houtzdale Days 5K Run/Walk at 7 p,m. on July 22.
Each year, the group will select two or three non-profit emergency response groups to raise funds to aid them in their efforts. This year, the group has selected Houtzdale, Ramey and Wallaceton fire companies.
Many local sponsors have donated great door prizes for those who pre-register online or by contacting Lisa at 814-360-8096 or by email at lm.komidar@gmail.com.
Runners can also earn a special $250 donation to their local non-profit fire company related organization by entering the Fireman’s Challenge. The first one that crosses the finish line either carrying or wearing their gear will win their organization the donation.
Mo Valley RACER is also seeking those who are interested in the organization and development of this new non-profit. The goal of RACER is to raise funds for our local fire companies and other non-profit emergency based service providers through the enjoyment of outdoor activities such as running, kayaking/canoeing, biking, etc.
