Paul L. Amick, 96, of Saxton, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2011 at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law in Clearfield.
Born on March 25, 1915 at Saxton, PA., son of William Ross and Lillian E. (Thompson) Amick. He was the last of his generation.
On Feb. 24, 1938, he was united in marriage to Edna Baughman in the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren, Saxton. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2003.
He is survived by two children: Carmen Lee, wife of Rev. Dr. Duane White, Clearfield, Donald Lester, husband of Anita (Germaux), Frisco, TX., ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Paul Rodney, 1981 and Ross Stanley, 2007 and two sisters: Lois Bryant Diles and Elizabeth (Betty) Urmson Petrosky.
Paul retired March 31, 1978, ending 34 years of service with Penelec in Saxton, Shilocta and Homer City, where he was a control room operator. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers presented the 65 year (Diamond) Membership Award to him in 2010. He was also a member of the Broad Top Senior Citizens Center.
Paul was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Barbara Berg and Pastor Duane White at a later date to be announced. Burial will be in the Fockler Cemetery, Saxton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saxton United Methodist Church (New Hope Parish), Saxton Volunteer Fire Company or Saxton Volunteer Ambulance, all of Saxton, PA 16678.
