Harry M. Crain, 95, of State College died Tuesday at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was the last of his generation.
Born Oct. 27, 1915 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Mary (Emeigh) Crain. He was Protestant by faith, and he enjoyed tying flies, fly fishing and golfing.
He was a 1930 graduate of the Philipsburg High School and received a degree in electrical engineering from Penn State in 1934. He had been employed at the research department at Penn State.
Mr. Crain married the former Betty Gilpatrick on Oct. 27, 1939 in Philipsburg. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2009. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Crain.
He’s survived by a daughter, Judy A. Hubler and her husband, Charles “Boots” of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Kimberly A. Kessler and her husband, Bill of Altoona; Leanne Hubler Zawicki and her husband, Carl of Pittsburgh; Lisa A. Hubler of State College; and Gregory A. Hubler and his wife, Julie of Morrisdale; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 East Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Interment will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
