Helen L. Kopeck, 85, formerly of DuBois, died Sunday at Christ the King Manor.
Born on Aug. 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine (Matula) Spehalski. She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Kopeck was also a soloist for many weddings. She volunteered at Christ the King Manor as well as helped with the the St. Michael’s Polish festivals.
She worked at the Sylvania Electric Company office, the Penn Traffic store and offices and the City Drug Store office.
On Sept. 3, 1949, she married Leo A. Kopeck. He preceded her in death in February 1993.
She’s survived by her two daughters, Sylvia “Deedee” Byrnes of Broadview Heights, OH and Paula Silhanek and her husband, Doug of New Castle; one sister, Virginia Good and her husband, Bill of DuBois; one brother, Richard Spehalski and his wife, Nancy of Port St. Lucie, FL; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Michael Kopeck and two brothers, Walter Spehalski and Ramon Spehalski.
A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, DuBois, with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
