Mary Jane Gardner, 85, of Clearfield passed away June 1, 2011 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Gardner was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Clearfield, the daughter of Blair and Pearl (Butler) McCorkle.
She retired from Bell Telephone Company in December of 1981 as a Senior Clerk Cashier and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church and the Sunday School Class #16.
She is survived by her two daughters; Iris J. Hoyt and her husband George of Grampian and Pamela G. Ardery and her husband Don of Chambersburg, five grandchildren; Nicole Kane Stover and her husband Jim, Brett Gardner Ardery and his fiancée Joanie, Andrew Hoyt and his wife Crystal, Thomas Hoyt and his wife April and Robert Hoyt and his wife Jess and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gardner was the last member of her generation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles F. “Stub” Gardner whom she married on November 5, 1945, and who passed away on March 12, 2011 and a brother Theron “Bill” McCorkle.
Funeral services will be held on June 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on June 3 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the hour of services.
