Chiefs Pound Reynoldsville 34-6

HYDE – The Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team parlayed 18 hits with 20 walks and three hit batsmen by Reynoldsville pitchers into a five-inning 34-6 Jefferson County League rout at the Bison Sports Complex Thursday evening.

Manager Sid Lansberry’s Chiefs sent 20 batters to the plate in the first inning, and 14 crossed home plate, three on Steve Miller’s home run.

They also scored 10 runs in the second frame and eight in the fourth for the Mercy Rule win that evened their record at 2-2. They are 2-1 in the JCL.

Andrew Redden paced Clearfield with three doubles and two singles good for six runs batted in.

Winning hurler Wes McGarry aided his cause with a pair of two-run doubles and a fifth RBI on a bases-loaded walk.

Miller, who had four RBIs, Kyler Kephart and Jordan Lancaster had two hits apiece. Kephart knocked in three runs.

Christian Lezzer slugged a grand slam home run.

McGarry registered his first win with a six-hitter, striking out six. He issued seven walks and hit one batter.

The Chiefs will be at home again Friday for a non-league game against Philipsburg and travel to DuBois Saturday for a JCL game at 2 p.m.
