Act 32::Free Tax Training Offered to Area Business

IRWING – The municipalities and school districts that comprise the Clearfield County Tax Collection Committee (CCTCC) selected Keystone Collections Group as their new countywide earned income tax collector effective January 1, 2012. As part of the sweeping local tax changes brought upon by Pennsylvania Act 32, the CCTCC chose a tax collection provider best suited to render services throughout the County. The decision on the selection of Keystone occurred after an extensive request for proposals process in 2010.

“We are delighted the Committee chose Keystone to serve the needs of the Clearfield County District”, said Joe Lazzaro, Vice President and General Counsel for Keystone. “Our goal in the region is twofold: to bring a higher level of services and a new standard of customer care for Clearfield County. Our focus is on accuracy, coupled with effective and fair tax collection for our communities.”

The new law’s most important change for local businesses is the requirement for mandatory wage tax withholding. Employers must automatically withhold and submit earned income tax for every employee beginning in 2012.

In an effort to educate local businesses of their new obligations under Act 32, the CCTCC and Keystone will provide a series of free employer seminars held throughout Clearfield County. These free educational sessions are part of an ongoing outreach effort to employers transitioning to the new system.

Keystone representatives will explain the changes mandated by Act 32 for employers, including mandatory withholding and reporting of local earned income tax. Sessions will be held at the follow times and locations:
