Verda L. Dixon Vallimont, 92, of Clearfield, passed away May 30, 2011 at Knickerbocker Villa.
Born Nov. 9, 1918 at Bigler, she was the daughter of Oscar T. and Vida Owens Dixon.
She was a 1936 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
Mrs. Vallimont retired from Sears Roebuck &Company. Prior to that she was employed by Brody’s Clothing Store as a seamstress.
She was an active member of West Side United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Circle Sarah, Funeral Committee, and Sunday School Class 27. Prior to that she was a charter member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Morrisdale, PA and served as their church historian for many years. She was also a Certified Lay Speaker for the Central PA Conference of the United Methodist Church.
She was member of the State Grange for many years.
Mrs. Vallimont is survived by a son, Keith Vallimont and his wife Ellen, of Clearfield; two granddaughters, Jennifer Vallimont and her spouse Mike Bona of Kersey and Jessie Vallimont of Clearfield, a stepgrandaughter, Beth Pirnick of Clearfield; three great-grandchildren, Shea, Salina, and Grayson Bona all of Kersey PA.She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, JoAnne Dixon of New Stanton, PA and Donna Vallimont of Snow Shoe, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl L Vallimont whom she wed Jan. 17, 1948, and who died March 14, 1976; four brothers Joseph, Vernoy, Donald and Bernard Dixon.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on June 3 at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with Pastor Joleen Willis officiating. Interment will be at the Keewaydin Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on June 2 from 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
