No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident at 8:36 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of State and Filbert Streets in Curwensville Borough, Clearfield County. William E. Crites, 75, of Hyde was stopped at a red light, waiting to turn right onto Filbert Street. At the time, a 71-year-old Curwensville man failed to see that the Crites vehicle had stopped and couldn’t bring his vehicle to a stop. His vehicle then struck the rear of the Crites vehicle. The Curwensville man’s vehicle was towed from the scene. He’ll be cited for following too closely through the district court. Both operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident at approximately 12:25 p.m. Thursday along state Route 969 just west of Curwensville in Pike Township, Clearfield County. A 21-year-old Curwensville man was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle, which traveled approximately 342 feet along the southern shoulder of SR 969. His vehicle then impacted a gravel embankment before coming to a rest, facing in the southern direction.  The man was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He’ll be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic through the district court. Police were assisted at the scene by Simbeck’s Towing.
Minor injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident at approximately 8:40 a.m. Thursday along state Route 53 just south of Coalport in Beccaria Township, Clearfield County. A 54-year-old Altoona man was traveling north when he observed traffic stopped ahead of him. His vehicle wasn’t able to come to a stop in time, and he steered it off the eastern shoulder, striking a dirt embankment. Police were assisted at the scene by the Glendale Volunteer Fire Company and Irvona Ambulance. The man was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He’ll be cited for driving on vehicles landed for traffic through the district court.
An incident of burglary, theft and criminal mischief was reported 12 p.m. March 29 and 7:15 a.m. Thursday at a camp located at Cross Road Boulevard in Beccaria Township, Clearfield County. A person(s) entered a 58-year-old Parksburg man’s camp by force, smashing the window out of the front door. Once inside, they allegedly removed personal effects, such as clothing and pictures before fleeing the scene. Total value of the damaged and removed property is $400. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clearfield-based state police at 814-857-3800.
An incident of driving under the influence of alcohol was reported at approximately 9:20 p.m. Thursday along state Route 53 near Moskol Lane in Cooper Township, Clearfield County. A 25-year-old Moshannon man was arrested for suspicion of DUI after he was stopped for a traffic violation. He was taken to the Clearfield Hospital for blood tests. Charges are currently pending through the district court.
