University Park, Pa. — Penn State men’s lacrosse player Matt Bernier (Drexel Hill, Pa.) has been selected to participate in the USILA Division I-II North/South All-Star Game. Bernier recently wrapped up his Penn State playing career as the defensive leader for the Nittany Lions.
Bernier, a tri-captain this past season, led Penn State to a 7-7 overall record and a second place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season. Penn State’s 4-2 conference mark allowed it to host a CAA semifinal game for the first time as well. Bernier, who started every game for Penn State on defense, had 39 ground balls this year, second only to face-off specialist Danny Henneghan. He leaves Penn State with 127 ground balls, a goal and an assist in 54 games played.
The 2011 USILA Division I-II North/South All-Star game will be played at Goucher College on May 27 at 5:30 p.m.
