William V. Gearhart, age 86 of Coal Hill Road in Luthersburg, PA died May 21, 2011 at the DuBois Nursing Home.Â
He was born on Oct. 1, 1924 in Luthersburg, PA. He was the son of the late Benjamin & Mildred (Beck) Gearhart. Â
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for over 33 years serving with the 629th Transportation Company.Â
He was married to Betty L. (Bailey) Gearhart. She preceded him in death on February 9, 1984.
He was a Union Electrical Contractor for Hallstrom Construction in DuBois for many years.Â
He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, camping, and gardening.Â
He is survived by his children:Â Mildred E. Hollopeter of Sykesville, PA, Mrs. David (Linda) Hamilton of Grampian, PA and Russell V. Gearhart and his wife, Marty of Shippensburg, PA, a sister, Elizabeth King of Pittsburgh, PA, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Claude Gearhart, one sister, Donna Krach and one great grandchild, Jessica Mowrey.
Visitation will be held on May 25 from 2-4 and 7-9Â p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on May 26 at 11 a.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Sherwood officiating.
Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at Rockton Cemetery.
