Cleda M. Peters, 87, of Curwensville and a resident of Christ the King Nursing Home, Dubois, died Thursday at the home.
Born Dec. 19, 1923 in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clinton C. and Nellie (Warden) Spencer. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Faith Bible Church, Lumber City, where she served as a deaconess, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school.
On Dec. 30, 1941 in Ohio, she wed Victor Dale Peters, whom preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1999.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stepmother, Ann Spencer; a son Ken Peters; three brothers, Hobert, Don and the Rev. Clinton Spencer Jr; and two sisters, Mildred Mahlon and Juanita Lark.
She’s survived by five children, Becky Hooven and her husband, Jerry of Olanta; Randy Peters and his wife, Debbie; Joe Peters and his wife, Helen “Cookie,” Dave Peters and Sue McCormick and her husband, Jim, all of Curwensville.
Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Ruby Peters, 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Max Spencer of Pennsylvania, Melvin Spencer and his wife, Norma of Ohio, Denny Spencer and his wife, Doris of Grampian and Delores Hoover and her husband, Huey of Curwensville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peters will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville.
