CLEARFIELD – PennDOT is advising motorists in Elk County that two roads will soon be posted with permanent, year-round, 10-ton gross weight restrictions.
The following state highways will have the weight restrictions along the sections noted:
• State Route 4007 (Silver Creek Road) from the bridge over Silver Creek in Ridgway Township to the intersection of SR 4003 in Jones Township.
• SR 4003 (Tambine Road) from the intersection of SR 948 in Ridgway Township to the intersection of SR 219 in Jones Township.
The postings are being put into place based on roadway inspections indicating that these highways may be damaged by the use of vehicles that exceed the restriction.
School buses and local delivery trucks are exempted from the postings.
The postings will take effect as soon as the required signage is erected. A PennDOT maintenance crew will begin placing the road posting signs on or after May 20.
