CLEARFIELD – CCCTC and Curwensville Area High School senior, Alisha Sloppy, plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy of Culinary Arts in the fall. ACF Chef Greg Zaffuto, Alisha’s instructor at CCCTC, shared that “Alisha’s experience and success at CCCTC has prepared her for a career in culinary education.” At IUP Alisha has the opportunity to study Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management BS, Culinary Arts/Food & Nutrition BS and Baking & Pastry Arts.
Alisha works three evenings during the week at Moena’s Restaurant in Clearfield as a line cook. Alisha’s supervisor at Moena’s, Chef Arika Evans commented that “With Alisha’s culinary knowledge from the Career and Technology Center, along with her working experience from Moena Restaurant, she will have a jumpstart to her culinary schooling at IUP Academy of Culinary Arts.”
“I found something that I care about and I try my best. I never made the honor roll until being in the culinary program at CCCTC,” commented Alisha Sloppy when asked why she does so well in the program at the Career Center.
Alisha has found the educational and career path that meets her interests and abilities. Alisha has done so well that she was on the honor roll at her home sending school, Curwensville Area High School. Alisha commented that her school counselors are very supportive of her attending the career center and they helped her make the decision to go based on her interests. Alisha ended the interview by stating that she loves the culinary program at the Career Center because she learns something new every day and that she does new hands-on applications every day.
