CLEARFIELD – A local college student was given the chance to help a local organization and learned another valuable lesson in the process: community pride.
Drew Stodart, of Clearfield, was given the oppoturnity to design the CRC Web site for his internship project. The Web site was unveiled on Friday during a press conference at the Lock Haven Clearfield Campus.
“We had an opportunity to bring the CRC to an online presence,” said Main Street Manager Kellie Truman. “This was a perfect match.
“Drew did a wonderful job.”
Truman said that Stodart was an example of the youth and future generation of the area, and that this was an opportunity for him to give something back.
Stodart was of a like mind.
“I never realized how impressive we are as a town,” said Stodart. “A lot of times, living in Clearfield, you get used to living here. You don’t take into account how beautiful and elegant it is.”
Stodart took time to explain the Web site step-by-step, showing those present how to navigate through it. He noted it showed items like where to shop, to how and who to contact to start a business. He noted that someone from out of town could look at this site ad knw what they’re getting into.
Stodart said one of the most challenging parts of the site design was how to clean the site up so the user doesn’t feel bombarded. “I wanted to develop the site so it was clean and concise.”
He also noted that they wanted to show a lot of the historical background of Clearfield, from its time as an All America City, to notes on its overall history.
