Anthony A. “Tony” Munchak, 76, of Curwensville, passed away April 23, 2011 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born March 20, 1935 in Beccaria, PA, he was the son of Anthony Andrew and Verna Marie (Smith) Munchak. Mr. Munchak had first been employed by Dan Zimmerman Trucking as a truck driver, he then owned and operated both Munchak Heating and Plumbing and Munchak Family Video both in Curwensville, but was retired from Fullington Auto Bus Company as a bus driver. He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
On October 23, 1955 at St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Grampian, PA, he wed the former Marjorie A. “Marge” Thurstin who survives along with three children. Deborah Passarelli and Michael Munchak and his fiancée Stephanie both of Curwensville and Joseph Munchak and his significant other Barbara of Indiana, PA.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Irene Cook of Curwensville and Gloria Spencer of Wooster, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons Ryan Munchak and Matthew Addleman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian on April 28 at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on April 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and again on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
A Scripture Vigil Wake Service will be conducted Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. by Deacon Anthony Indelicato at the funeral home.
