DUBOIS – DuBois City council applauded the actions of volunteers, employees and officials who recently went out of their way to assist others.
The DuBois Volunteer Fire Department was thanked for their efforts in fighting the fire last Friday. Many volunteers showed up to assist in fighting the fire.
“They did a good job. It was a nasty one with how the wind was blowing,” said City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio.
Mayor and Council President Gary Gilbert lamented that there had to be a fire, but stated that there was luck involved with the fire having had occurred that day. There were volunteers who were only able to assist in fighting the fire due to having the day off.
Police Chief Mike DiLullo, who wasn’t present at the meeting, was given praise for assisting a couple Clearfield residents stranded at Marten’s due to a flat tire. According to Suplizio, DiLullo took the time to change their tire himself in order to get them back home.
Council Member Edward Walsh was mentioned as having rushed to the aid of a little girl recently. The girl was described as being in his vicinity when she had managed to get something tangled around a wrist. This was leading to a loss of circulation in her hand.
