CLEARFIELD – A proposed winery in Lawrence Township hit a snag. That news came after Joe and Joe Kendrick announced to the supervisors that they had applied for a permit to open a winery and shop to sell it. According to the Kendricks, the winery will be located on their property near Henry’s Farm. They indicated they had not heard anything from the townshp regarding their permit application.
Code Enforcement Officer Agath Lauder-English said the permit application was denied, and that the notice was in the mail. She cited that the area is zoned Rural Agriculture, and that liquor/spirit production and retail sale are not covered in that zoning district. The Kendricks argued that they would be producing an agricultural product from grapes.
Their next step would be to appeal the denial.
