University Park, Pa. — The Penn State women’s basketball program and head coach Coquese Washington will hold five summer camp sessions in June and August. There will be a Shooting Camp (June 12-14), Skills Camp (June 12-14), Elite Camp (June 25-26), Total Package Team Camp (June 23-25) and Games Galore Team Camp (August 5-7).
The Lady Lion Basketball Shooting Camp is a three-day camp is designed to perfect the mechanics and footwork of your shot. Each camper will have the opportunity to work one on one with a coach to analyze the proper technique and form. Heavy emphasis will be placed on shooting in competitive shooting drills and contests. Each camper will receive a camp shirt and a basketball.
The action-packed overnight Skills Camp will focus on teaching fundamentals and encouraging skill development in all aspects of the game. The campers will thrive in drills, individual instruction, and team settings. The Lady Lion staff and players will be on hand every day to teach and encourage all the campers. Each camper will receive a camp shirt and a Lady Lion season-highlight DVD.
The Lady Lion Basketball Elite Camp is designed for the athlete who is serious about raising her game and playing at the collegiate level. The Lady Lion coaching staff and players will provide individual instruction that will include lectures, demonstrations, and intense applications. The campers will also get the opportunity to compete against some of the nation’s best high school players in highly competitive scrimmages. Each camper will receive a camp shirt and a Lady Lion season-highlight DVD.
The Lady Lion Basketball Team Camps are designed to provide junior varsity, varsity, and/or club teams with the opportunity to train and compete under the guidance of the Lady Lion basketball staff. Teams must send a minimum of eight players and a maximum of 12 players.
The Total Package Team Camp is a three-day camp where each team will participate in "five on five" games, special situation settings, and team-building exercises. The Lady Lion staff and players will also provide demonstrations and lectures on various topics related to individual fitness and team success. Each camper will receive a camp shirt.
The Games Galore Team Camp is for the teams looking to get together after a long summer, this camp will provide the opportunity to play numerous games in a concise amount of time. Each camper will receive a camp shirt.
Washington’s camp staff includes assistant coaches Fred Chmiel, Kia Damon and Maren Walseth. All three assistant coaches have been responsible for developing all-conference caliber players.
