Craig L. Hile, 61 of Clearfield died Tuesday.
Born Feb. 24, 1950, he was the son of Perry D. and Dorothy J. (Rich) Hile. He was affiliated with the West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mr. Hile was the owner of Blooms Insurance Agency of Clearfield. He also served on the Board of Directors at the Clearfield Bank and Trust Company and was a former member of the Clearfield Area School Board.
He was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School, an alumnus of the Gettysburg College and a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
Mr. Hile was a member of the Clearfield Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield Masonic Lodge
#314 F&AM, where he held the 32nd Degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Coudersport.
He was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends and going to his camp. He was an avid reader.
Mr. Hile was a quiet, gentle, kind, loving and committed husband and father, concerned about others and always put family first. He will be dearly and greatly missed.
He’s survived by his wife, Kathryn J. (Owens) Hile of Clearfield, whom he married on Jan. 26, 1974; three daughters, Melissa M. Undercofler and her husband, Shawn of Clearfield; Dr. Emily J. Ackerman and her husband, Shawn of Cumberland, RI; and Rebecca A. Hile of Pittsburgh.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Tyler Undercofler, Kevin Undercofler, Zachary Undercofler and Ava Kathryn Ackerman.
Mr. Hile was the last member of his generation and was preceded in death by his parents.
At the request of Mr. Hile, there will be no public visitation. At the convenience of the family a Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
