Lee L. Lewis, 84, of Plum and formerly of Smoke Run, died at 11:23 a.m., April 17, 2011 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1926, in Beccaria, a son of the late William B. and Margaret (Richardson) Lewis.

He was Methodist by faith and served in the US Army as a Private First Class in WW II.
Â
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Benjamin Coal Co. He later was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Mr. Lewis was a member of the Logan Masonic Lodge #490, the Consistery of Altoona, Jaffa Shrine Temple of Altoona, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

On April 14, 1949 in the Houtzdale United Methodist Church, he married the former Lela J. Kephart

Mr. Lewis is survived by a daughter, Cheryl L. Smith of Plum and by a grandson, Matthew and his wife Julie and a granddaughter, Allyson.

He was the last of his generation, having been preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Rose Marie Risko and three brothers, Jack, Bill and Don Lewis.

Friends will be received on April 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on April 20 from 9-11 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Madera.
