Kenneth E. Snedden Sr., 80, DuBois died Friday at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born on July 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Yale) Snedden. Mr. Snedden was Protestant by faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from the Brockway Glass Company after over 35 years of service.
Mr. Snedden was active in the DuBois Little League for many years. He coached “Service Clubs” for over 20 years, served on the league board of directors and also served as the president of the league. He was one of the founders of the DuBois Senior League and enjoyed Little League All Star season.
He was the founder of the Gateway Midget Football League’s DuBois Panther Football team and was the 2000 Gateway Midget Football Man of the Year.
He enjoyed buying antiques and refinishing them. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his family, and he was an avid fan of both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
In February 1955, he married Sue L. (Kline) Snedden. She survives.
He’s survived by three children, Kenneth E. Snedden Jr. and his wife, Becky; Mary Sue Slattery and her husband, Robert; and Patti Wells, all of DuBois, four brothers, William Snedden of Pittsburgh; John “Jack” Snedden Sr. and Donald Snedden, both of DuBois; and Harry “Babe” Snedden of Tacoma, WA; a sister, Linda Radaker of DuBois; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Snedden Jr.; a sister, Agnes Harris; and a great-grandson, Ashton Snedden.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service 10:30 a.m. Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home with Pastor David Bish officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
