New Lessons and Resources on the American Civil War!
The American Red Cross is pleased to announce new online educational resources for teachers and students. The American Civil War: A Humanitarian Perspective, inspired by the Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) curriculum, will help educators connect American history to international humanitarian law (IHL) and principles, connecting lessons of the past with issues of the present.
These lessons encourage students to explore humanitarian acts on both sides of the battlefield, discover how today’s basic rules of humanitarian law emerged and engage in exciting hands-on activities to apply basic IHL principles to real-world scenarios.
These materials are free and can be downloaded at: www.redcross.org/ehl
