Mariel E. Carson, 94, of Philipsburg died Wednesday at her residence. She was the last member of her generation.
Born Dec. 30, 1916, in Madera, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Audrey (Brady) Fowler. She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg.
She was a 1935 graduate of the Bigler Township High School and a 1941 graduate of the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her certification as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Carson was employed as a registered nurse at the Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement.
She wed Woodrow Carson April 26, 1941 at the Church of the United Brethren, Altoona. He preceded her death Nov. 25, 1990.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson; one sister, Cleoda Southern; one brother, Edward Fowler; and one son-in-law, Rodger Webster.
Mrs. Carson is survived by two daughters, Ruth C. Webster of Philipsburg and Carol Manser and her husband, Richard of King of Prussia.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Dr. Michael L. Webster of Erie; Scott A. Webster and his wife, Leeann of Spring Mills; Christopher L. Manser and his wife, Abigail of Huntington Valley; and Jonathan C. Manser of Blue Bell; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a date and time to be announced at the Alexander Cemetery, Madera. There will be no public visitation.
