CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man facing a laundry list of charges waived his right to preliminary hearings on Wednesday.
In the first case, Daniel J. Weaver faces charges of robbery; criminal attempt to commit robbery; criminal conspiracy to commit robbery; simple assault; theft by unlawful taking; criminal attempt to commit theft by unlawful taking. disorderly conduct and harassment.
According to court records, those charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on Jan. 15. The alleged victim told police that he was jumped by four guys in the parking lot of Curwensville Commons. He related that one of the men who jumped him was Weaver. He said that Weaver struck him on his forehead with an unknown object and then put him in a headlock. He said that while he was being assault, Weaver demanded money from him. The alleged victim told police he could feel someone going through his pockets. He said that Weaver and the other men then fled the scene.
In the second case, Weaver faces a count of criminal mischief. According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on state Route 969 in Lumber City on March 17. Weaver was reportedly traveling in a vehicle operated by a woman. They began to have an argument over a phone call she received from her ex-boyfriend. She stopped the vehicle and Weaver took the keys and left the area. She told police that Weaver returned and left again, then returned again. The woman got her keys, but Weaver reportedly began to punch the windows. When they did not break, he began to kick the car, damaging both tail lights, side mirrors, passenger side windshield wiper and passenger side head light. Damage was estimated at over $1,500.
In the third case, Weaver faces charges of criminal mischief; false ID to law enforcement; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct and public drunkeness. On March 18 police were called to East Market Street in Clearfield Borough for a report of criminal mischief. A woman reported tht Weaver was smashing out the windows to her vehicle. The woman reported that Weaver was in his grandmother’s vehicle and leaving the area. Police located it on Clearfield-Curwensville Highway and followed. A traffic stop was initiated off of Filbert Street in the Uni-Mart parking lot. The officer approached the vehicle and asked the man in the passenger seat to provide his name. He told police “Brandon”. He then began to move around and he jumped into the back seat and began to exit the vehicle on from the driver’s side. The officer pulled his taser and and fired. However, only one prong discharged. A footchase then ensued, and Weaver went into a house through the backdoor. Officers lost him after he exited through the front door.
In the fourth case, Weaver faces charges of intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered; aggravated assault; flight to avoid apprehension, trial or punishment; simple assault; resisting arrest and harassment. On March 28 police went to Lawrence Park Village after learning that Weaver may be there. Two law enforcement officials went to the front of the building, while another went to the rear. The trooper at the rear of the apartment saw Weaver jump from a rear window. He was ordered to the ground, disobeyed and began running. Weaver ran to the front of the building where the other two officers were waiting. He reportedly began to fight with them and resisted arrest. During this time, one state trooper suffered an injury to his bicep. Weaver was tased due to injuring an officer and his refusal to obey the trooper’s orders. Three Suboxone tablets were found on Weaver. He admitted that they were his, but not where he got them.
