Police reported an incident of harassment and criminal mischief at 2:30 a.m. April 2 at a Reese Hollow Road residence in Worth Township, Centre County. A 26-year-old Warriors Mark female and two Part Matilda adults became involved in an argument, which escalated to physical violence. The Warriors Mark female allegedly struck a 22-year-old Port Matilda female and pulled her hair. The defendant also punched out a window belonging to a 22-year-old Port Matilda male. Charges of harassment and criminal mischief are to be filed against the defendant.
Police reported a single-vehicle accident at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on Fowler Hollow Road in Taylor Township, Centre County. John H. Johns, 59, of Port Matilda reported to police that he was traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour, when several deer came out of the woods. Some of the deer struck the left side of his truck and caused him to lose control on the wet roadway. His truck slid off the left side of the road, went down a small embankment and struck several trees. No injuries were reported. Johns was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the mishap.
Police reported an incident of theft by deception at 9 a.m. Monday at Weis Market in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. A 76-year-old Philipsburg woman was contacted by a male suspect who informed her that she’d won a vehicle and that $1,600 had to be deposited into an account before she could claim it. The victim then wired $1,600 into an account and was later contacted by the male who informed her that an additional $2,500 had to be deposited into the account in order for her to claim the vehicle. The total amount stolen, including the transaction fee, was $1,745.
