Ruth B. Araway, 97, of McClure and formerly of Winburne died Monday at the Lewistown Hospital. She’d been a resident of Ohesson Manor for several years.
Born Nov. 17, 1913 in Kylertown, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Bertha K. (Merrell) Moyer. Mrs. Araway was a member of Messiah Baptist Church, Lanse and attended Samuel’s Church in McClure.
She graduated from the Cooper Township High School. She was a homemaker.
She wed William Araway Dec. 16, 1944 in Altoona. He preceded her in death July 21, 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Doyle Moyer.
Mrs. Araway is survived by two sons, Daniel Araway and his wife, Patty of Virginia and George Araway and his wife, Judy of McClure.
Also surviving are two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura McNulty and one niece, Donna Mecky, both of New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, with the Rev. Clark Kelsey officiating. Burial will be in Messiah Baptist Cemetery, Lanse.
Friends will be received from 7 – 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, and from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home.
