JOHNSTOWN – Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley recently toured Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) in Johnstown, where he highlighted the Corbett administration’s commitment to growing Pennsylvania’s economy and creating jobs.
“Gov. Corbett’s budget is a commitment to Pennsylvania’s workers. We want to get government out of the way of companies like CTC, so they can grow and create good-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians,” said Cawley.
Corbett’s proposed budget contains no tax or fee increases and cuts government spending by 3 percent, most of which is done by consolidating programs, targeting inefficiencies and reducing or eliminating discretionary financial grants.
The budget emphasizes free enterprise by supporting programs that will encourage economic growth and job creation, streamlining a multitude of business incentive programs and awarding tax credits as incentives for new and creative ideas to improve business and industry.
“We want to create jobs by luring more companies like CTC to Pennsylvania, but we cannot do that with one of the heaviest tax burdens in the country. Gov. Corbett has proposed a budget that will help to provide tax relief and grow our economy,” said Cawley.
CTC is an independent, non-profit applied scientific research and development company with offices in the United States and Europe. About half of the company’s 1,400 employees work at facilities in Pennsylvania. They have been serving clients since 1987, including the U.S. military.
“The lesson I learn from visiting successful job-creators like CTC is simple: If you want jobs to grow, you have to keep taxes low. This is exactly the goal of the Governor’s budget,” said Cawley.
