Lois L. Reiter, 87, of Osceola Mills, died Friday at the Altoona Regional Health System.
Born on July 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Freeman and Hazel (Airsman) Burns. Mrs. Reiter was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church.
She served as a registered nurse and had provided private duty, in addition to substituting as a school nurse for the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District. She was also the former owner and operator of the Reiter Floral Shop.
Mrs. Reiter graduated from the former Osceola Mills High School. She was also a graduate of the former Philipsburg State Hospital’s School of Nursing.
She wed Gordon Wesley Reiter June 22, 1946 in Osceola Mills. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1990. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Freeman Burns.
She’s survived by one daughter, Susanne Watson and her husband, Lynn of Watsontown; one son, Freeman W. “Bud” Reiter and his wife, Carol of Philipsburg; one sister, Geraldine (Deanie) Jaskowak and her husband, Francis of Osceola Mills; and one brother, John (Jack) Burns and his wife, Ruth of Philipsburg.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Beth and David Reiter, both of Philipsburg and Eric and Brandy Watson, both of Watsontown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church with the Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating. Interment will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.
