Melvin J. Kolesar Sr., 78 of Philipsburg, passed away at his resident on March 22, 2011.
Born Sept. 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Domblisky) Kolesar.
He was a Roman Catholic by faith; an Army Veteran of the Korean War; and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Louis Jenkins Post 3450 Philipsburg and the Fraternal Order of Eagels – Aerie 812 Clearfield.
He was a heavy equipment operator for many companies before retiring.
On May 14, 1960 he wed the former Mona R. English in Winchester, VA. She survives him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Michael and Melvin Kolesar Jr.; brothers Earl, Michael and Gerald “Bobby” Kolesar and sisters Louise Guftason and Janet Kolesar.
He is survived by daughters Margaret A. Upcavage and her husband Joseph of Levittown and Melissa J. Tomassetti of Levittown; sons Matthew C. Kolesar and his wife Gina of Levittown and Mark A. Kolesar and his wife Geraldine of Bensalem; sister Dolores McClelland of Osceola Mills; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on March 26 at 11 a.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert J. Kelly officiating. Burial will be at the Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Philipsburg. Visitation will be held on March 25 from 6-8 p.m. and March 26 from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Indendent Honor Guard.
