David E. Franson, 58, of Clearfield, passed away March 19, 2011.
Born Aug. 25, 1952 in Clearfield, he was the son of Charles Jr. and Margaret (Shugarts) Franson. Mr. Franson was a 1970 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He had worked for the former Sears in downtown Clearfield from 1970 through 1989, then worked for Clearfield Powdered Metals from 1990 through 2008, and currently worked for Net Shape Technologies in Falls Creek from 2008 to the present. He also was the sales manager for Franson Auction Services of Clearfield and also worked at the Chidboy Funeral Home of Clearfield.
He was a life member of Clearfield VFD Station #1 Clearfield, was a former member and past president of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Dept. Fair and Park Board, was a member of the Goshen Rod and Gun Club, had volunteered for both the Bingo’s at the Clearfield American Legion and Clearfield Sons of Italy, and was a former member of both the Clearfield B.P.O.E. Lodge #540 and the Clearfield F.O.E. Aerie #812.
On Oct. 19, 1974 in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield, he wed the former Carolyn I. “Lynn” Santini who survives along with a son David E. Franson II and his wife Shaina of Curwensville.
Also surviving are three brothers and a sister. William A. “Bill” Franson and his wife Maria and Charles A. “Charlie” Franson III and his wife Mary Ann both of Clearfield, Martha K. Chambers and her husband Philip of Clarence, and Donald M. Franson of Bellefonte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Carl Franson.
He loved his family, his dog “Maggie”, and spending time at his camp.
Funeral Services for Mr. Franson will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church 121 S. Second St. Clearfield, PA on March 24 at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Carl Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 16 N. Front St. Clearfield on March 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Red Cross, Clearfield Chapter 1100 S. Second St. Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
