AUSTIN – The Sinnemahoning State Park officials have announced two programs – “Owl Prowl” and “Signs of Spring Hike” to be held Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Participants will learn about the specialized birds as well as the several species of Owls, which call Pennsylvania their home during the park’s “Owl Prowl” program from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, March 18. The park naturalist will meet participants at the Wildlife Viewing Area gazebo for a fascinating look at these predators and their adaptations.
The program includes a short hike along the northernmost section of the Lowlands Trail to listen for their distinctive calls. Participants are asked to meet at the Wildlife Viewing area near the Cameron-Potter county line.
The trail will be easy to navigate, but participants are asked to bring a flashlight and to dress appropriately for the weather.
Then, Saturday, March 19, the park will host a “Signs of Spring” hike for visitors from 1 – 3 p.m.
Winter is finally loosening its grip on the land and water, and signs of spring are everywhere, especially if you know where to look.
Participants will join the park naturalist for a fun and informative hike along the Lowlands Trail, and discover nature’s hints of the coming warm weather.
All interested participants should meet at Pavilion #1 in the 40 Maples Day-Use Area. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Call the park at 814-647-8401 for more information or directions.
