CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr. announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of Feb. 22, 2011. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Charles L. Day, age 48, of DuBois, Pennsylvania. Shaw stated that Day is wanted for failure to appear at Sentencing Court on May 11, 2010.
On Jan. 20, 2009, Officer Randall Young of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a criminal complaint charging Day with: 1) driving under the influence, M; 2) careless driving, S; 3) registration and certificate of title required, S; 4) operation of vehicle without an official certificate of inspection, S; 5) required financial responsibility, S; and 6) operation following suspension of registration, S.
An affidavit of probable Cause filed by Young states that on Dec. 23, 2008, while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle traveling with an expired registration and without operating taillights. The vehicle was further observed crossing the center double yellow line several times while traveling east on East DuBois Avenue. Upon stopping the vehicle, Young detected signs of impairment and requested that Day perform field sobriety tests. Day was then transported to DRMC for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20, 2009, at which time all charges were held for Court. On May 11, 2010, Day failed to appear for sentencing court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
