BRADFORD – A state police fire marshal and the Bradford Township Fire Department are investigating an explostion at 10 Helen Lane, Bradford Township that occurred Monday morning.
According to the police report, the explosion destroyed a wood-frame residential dwelling. The report states that the explosion caused partial structure collapse and ignited a fire within the structure. National Fuel Gas assisted with investigation as well. The natural gas distribution system along with local gas distribution facilities were examined and tested. Those systems were determined to be safe and did not contribute to the explosion.
The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission, DEP and McKean County Emergency Management Agency also assisted with the investigation.
The report also stated that Thomas Federspiel was outside his residence at the time of the explosion. He was treated by emergency medical services for minor injuries. He was also able to rescue his two dogs from the residence before fire crews arrived.
