DuBois City Council Makes Decision on Right to Carry

DUBOIS – After six weeks of debate in the public comments period of the council meetings a decision has been made by the council.  According the City of DuBois Mayor Gary Gilbert, the City of DuBois will not move to limit the ability of someone legally allowed to carry a firearm in a council meeting.  Council did ask those who would consider bringing a gun, even concealed, to consider the distraction it can cause in a meeting if it is known to be present.

At the next City Council meeting, a representative from the Pennsylvania Utility Commission will be visiting, according to City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio.

Mentioned at the meeting, the PUC admitted the 814 area code is not running out of numbers as fast as originally believed.  Not as fast means the area still faces a change in how the area code works, but just not on the immediate horizon.  Suplizio had reached out to a contact involved with the PUC to provide some information on the subject.
