WORTH TOWNSHIP – A single, tractor-trailer accident closed the eastbound lane of United States Route 322 for approximately 10-and-a-half hours Friday in Worth Township, Centre County.
According to the accident report, Kwame Adjei-Mensah of Riverdale, GA was traveling east on USR 322. The man told police that his tractor-trailer lost its brakes, causing him to drive off the roadway in an attempt to stop it.
His tractor trailer struck a large tree, which then caused damage to power lines in the area. USR 322 eastbound closed at 10:30 a.m. and didn’t re-open until approximately 9 p.m., while the power lines were repaired, police said.
Police said that Adjei-Mensah’s tractor-trailer sustained “severe damage” in the accident. His tractor-trailer was scheduled for Department of Transportation inspection on Feb. 26, 2011.
