Merle E. Scholl, 73, DuBois died Saturday at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born on April 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles A. Scholl and Nora C. (Johnston) Scholl. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Scholl was a steel worker for US Steel in Fairless Hills for many years. He also provided security work for MJM Pinkerton. He was a volunteer caretaker of the Rumbarger Cemetery for five years and an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
He married Loretta J. (Cole) Scholl, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Scholl and one sister, Elizabeth Keister.
He is survived by his son, Charles A. Scholl, II of DuBois; three step-sons, Fredrick Foxhill of Easton and Troy Foxhill and Michael Foxhill, both of Levittown; one sister, Nora G. Stankavich of DuBois; one brother, Charles “Joe” Scholl of DuBois; and eight step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will then be held after the viewing with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.
