Gertrude H. Korb, 97, formerly of West Weber Avenue in DuBois, died Thursday at Christ the King Manor. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Born on May 29, 1913 in Elkins, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Leder) Heckel. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, bingo and playing cards.
Mrs. Korb was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at the church. She was the last surviving member of the first eighth grade graduating class of Holy Rosary School in Johnsonburg.Â
On Sept. 10, 1940, she married Maxwell E. Korb. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Korb is survived by her children, Patrick M. Korb of Cincinnati, OH; Joseph O. Korb and his wife, Karla of DuBois; Mary Jo Garofalo and her husband, Gary of Norristown; and James E. Korb and his wife, Karen of DuBois; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will received friends from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with the Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
