CLEARFIELD – “Deer Lovely Ladies Tour” in the newest and latest downtown event by the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation’s Promotion Committee. The downtown tour is a cultured food, wine and shopping tour that will be held March 26 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. This is same weekend as “March Madness” which is when Grice Gun Shop, Bob’s Army & Navy, and Jim’s Sports Center all come together and have their big anniversary sales and largely attract a male-oriented audience. The idea for the downtown tour was brought to life when the CRC conducted a random sampling this particular weekend last year, which outlined that there were plenty of things for men to do, but for the ladies, not so much.
Kellie Truman, Main Street Manager for the CRC explains, “our goal is to turn the successful weekend of “March Madness” in Clearfield into a women’s weekend as well. This is the largest weekend for downtown Clearfield as far as tourism and marketing. We want to show off our town at its best and offer a variety of things to do. In turn, we hope to create more overnight stays and higher investments in our local businesses.”
What’s in the name? With this downtown tour, ladies can send the guys off to shop “deer” and outdoor sales while the ladies can max out and relax with things that ladies “love,” with what else than food, wine and shopping. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the hidden treasures of downtown Clearfield and sample a taste of the All-America City with complimentary wine samples from our local Starr Hill Winery. Each stop along the tour will have a different complimentary wine sample paired with a different type of food. This way, each stop has a unique experience. We have also encouraged participating businesses to offer exclusive specials to the “lovely ladies” of the tour.
Rob Bozovich, chairman of the Promotion Committee comments about the downtown tour, “As a downtown business member and leader of the promotion committee, it feels great to get involved in my community, and work towards showcasing visitors from outside of Clearfield the things we come to know and love through a diversity of events in downtown on an already booming weekend.”
Participating locations include Taffy Salon and Spa, Sweet Art Bakery, Zalno’s Jewelers, Historica Plus, Audio Video Appliance Center, Gardner’s Candies, Express Cafe, Kim’s Gifts, Hedges Fine Foods and Spirits, and World of Travel.
Participants must register to take the tour by calling or stopping by the CRC office by 4 p.m. on March 18 as tickets are limited. Tickets are $15/each that include an ID check, wristband and a map of the downtown tour. Cash or check is due at the time of registration. Out of town visitors can pick up their tickets on the day of the event as long as they are pre-registered. The CRC phone number is 814-765-6000, and the office is located at 207 E. Market Street, Downtown Clearfield.
