Joseph M. Dixon, 66 of Bigler, PA passed away on Feb. 21, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Dixon was born on April 1, 1944 in Clearfield, the son of the late Donald Bruce and Pauline (Jury) Dixon.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Chester Hill, Philipsburg.
Mr. Dixon was retired as a school crossing guard from Bells Elementary School of Buckeye AZ in 2008, where he and his wife lived for seventeen years. Prior to that he drove truck for 25 years, and worked construction with his dad for 5 years, he also worked both Action Compaction and Bioflora in AZ.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife Amelia A. (Wood) Dixon whom he married on May 6, 1967 at the Summit Hill United Methodist Church of Morrisdale, and four children: Tina M. Dixon of Clearfield, Tabitha L. Allen and her husband James of Clearfield, Trina L. Murphy and her husband Chris of Brookville, Tanya M. Hernandez of Avondale, AZ, twelve grandchildren, and a sister, Cindy L. (Dixon) Raymond and her husband Robert ‘RJ” of Woodland, and a brother, Gerald “Zeke” Dixon and his wife Diane of Polyop, WA and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Chester Hill, Philipsburg, PA at 11:00 a.m. on Feb. 26, 2011 with President Jeffery Hipps officiating. Interment will be in the Bigler Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Feb. 25, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
