Richard C. Flynn, 93, of Grampian died Friday at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born June 16, 1917 in Walltown, Penn Township, he was the son of the late Charles and Maude (Zortman) Flynn. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Grampian.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Sedona, AZ and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a barber for many years in Grampian. In 2008, he was named the Grampian “Citizen of the Year.”
Mr. Flynn was wed to the former Ruth Olive Gelnett, who preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruby Wall and Alice McCartney; and one brother, Fred H. Flynn.
Surviving are two children, Richard A. Flynn and Debra Lee Flynn, both of Grampian. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Charles and Blainanne Flynn and one sister, Verna Mae Anderson of DuBois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville. Interment will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
