Walking in snow shoes can be challenging, but running in a 50 or 100 meter race is what some of our local Special Olympics athletes did this past weekend at The Winter Games. Doug Hepfer won a silver, James Merritt won a silver and Chester Gibson won 2 gold medals! The weather was cold but our athletes were prepared and ready to compete after hard training for several weeks. Hepfer, Merritt and Gibson are long time competitors and train year round for many different sporting events. They and other local athletes will be attending a bowling tournament this weekend in Altoona. Good luck team!Â
