Samuel J. “Sam” Unch, 53 of Clearfield, PA passed away on Jan. 16, 2011 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1957 in Clearfield, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Edna (Harvey) Unch.
Sam owned and operated his own business, Sam Unch Machinist and Auto Mechanic, where he specialized in building engines.
He attended Clearfield St. Francis Catholic School and was a graduate of the class of 1975 from Clearfield Area High School and the Clearfield County Career Technology Center.
Mr. Unch was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.
He is survived by his three sons: Samuel J. Unch, III and his wife Nichole of Curwensville, Jason L. Unch and Nathan P. Unch, both of Clearfield; two sisters and a brother; Sandra L. Williams and her husband Fred of Clearfield, Barbara Cutler and her companion Rick Beauseigneur of Glen Richey and David L. Unch and his wife Nora of Curwensville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews
Mr. Unch is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, R. Louise Earnhart.
A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield,PA on Feb. 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation or viewing.
