Caroline “Jo-Anne” Travers, age 79, of Maple Avenue in DuBois, PA died February 15, 2011 at her residence.
Born on June 16, 1931 in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. & Caroline (Knobloch) Braden.
She was a 1949 graduate of Shanango High School in New Castle. She graduated from Clarion State University. She had a Master’s Degee in Reading Specialist from Penn State University and received a degree in Elementary Administration from Westminster College.
She was married to Stephen N. Travers, Jr. He preceded her in death.
She retired as a coordinator of Title I Reading and Math at the DuBois Area School District after 26 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois. She was a past president of American Association of University Women, Seneca Reading Council, and the Laurel Reading Council. She was on the board of directors for the Keystone State Reading Association.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen N. Travers III, and his wife, Diane of Caldwell, NJ and Richard C. Travers of DuBois, PA, a brother, Thomas Braden of Butler, PA and three grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Braden, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Feb. 17 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
A funeral service will be held Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. from the Castleview Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. William Hunley officiating.
Burial will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens in New Castle, PA.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.
