AMESVILLE – Alec Starr poured in a career-high 28 points and senior classmate Kyle Barrett scored 18 more as the Curwensville Area High School boys basketball team pulled down the curtain on the 2010-11 season by rolling past host Moshannon Valley 81-38 Monday night.

The win was the fourth in five games for coach Matt Wassil’s Golden Tide, which finished 7-15 with a 4-4 Moshannon Valley League record.

Curwensville led 22-9 after one quarter, but the margin remained 13 at the half, 39-26, as the Black Knights played one of their best eight-minute stretches of the season in the second period.

The Golden Tide then exploded for 52 points after the intermission.

Derek Southern led Moshannon Valley (0-20) with 13 points, while Joel Martin had 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists before fouling out.
